The Darakshan police on Tuesday claimed to have arrested two suspects red-handed while they were committing a robbery in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) on Tuesday.

The Police reached the property after receiving information from the Madadgar 15 police helpline. An exchange of fire took place between the police and suspects when the force tried to foil the attempted robbery at a bungalow located on Khayaban-e-Mujahid, Phase V.

According to SHO Azam Gopang, police personnel on four police mobile vans surrounded the bungalow and they arrested two of the three robbers; however, their companion managed to escape under the cover of fire. The arrested suspects were identified as Shahid and Ahmed. The officer said the robbers had entered the bungalow of Dr Zafar Iqbal, who is a retired army officer. The police also claimed to have recovered arms and ammunition from their possession.
