Since the COVID-19 pandemic has completely changed the mode of life on this planet, the Sindh government is preparing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) for every sector and place of gathering, including mosques, educational institutions and shopping centres, for the post-lockdown period.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said this on Monday as he released a video message from the CM House.
“Now, new rules of leading day-to-day life are developing and in the post-lockdown period, life will not be the same as it was in the first week of January 2020, therefore everyone will have to reshape his and her domestic, business and social life,” the CM said.
He added that his government had engaged health experts, government functionaries and social scientists to work out the new SOPs for the post-lockdown period under which people would be bound to offer prayers, carry out businesses and lead social and domestic life. “But it is very much clear that life has changed and now it will only and only be health-oriented,” he said.
Talking about the COVID-19 cases in Sindh, he said the tally had reached 932, of 17 could not survive.
Shah said the number of the infected people on Sunday in Sindh was 881 and 51 new cases were detected on Monday, thus the number of new cases had reached 932. He added that till Monday morning, 9,589 tests had been conducted.
Sharing good news, the CM said the number of patients recovered till Monday morning was 253, which according to him constituted 27.5 per cent of the infected people. He added that at present 662 patients were under treatment at public and private hospitals and 342 were in isolation at their homes.
The CM urged the philanthropists to distribute rations only after maintaining social distancing from the recipients. “If you [philanthropists] fail to maintain social distance with the people you are giving rations to, these people will be infected,” he warned and termed it as a crime against poor people.
He urged the people to ensure social distancing at their homes. "I urge you to keep social distancing from your elders and children because they are more prone to the threat of infection,” he said.
The CM said people infected with coronavirus and suspected cases of COVID-19 would be receiving phone calls from government offices. “I would request you to cooperate with them even if you receive more calls from different departments for inquiring about your social contacts, etc. We all are doing this for you,” he said. He also thanked everyone living in the province for their cooperation and support.
