Islamabad: You all out there need to be on their guard today (April 1) as friends, family members or others can play pranks on you.

The reason is that it’s April Fools’ Day, which is marked globally as the day of pranks.

Though the day is popular among youngsters, who trick each other over the telephone or by SMS just for fun, the people have advocated its non-celebration in light of the current outbreak of coronavirus.

They asked people against spreading fake news warning such acts would stress out people and claim lives.

Mushtaq Ahmad, 58, asked how one could favour pranks, which agonised the people, especially in the times of coronavirus pandemic.

He said the April Fools’ Day pranks had claimed lives in the past, so the society should disapprove of the marking of the day at large.

Samina Sultan, a housewife, said the day was alien to local culture and therefore, it shouldn’t be marked.

She said there were so many ‘safe’ ways to have fun, so the practice of giving people the false shocking news mostly about family members and friends on April 1 must be discouraged.
