A policeman lost his life on Monday in a road accident in Baldia Town within the limits of the Madina Colony police station. According to police, , 40-year-old Adil, son of Ghulam, was a head constable and posted to the Saeedabad police station. Police said that the accident took place when a vehicle hit and killed him. The victim's body was taken to the Civil Hospital Karachi for an autopsy and later handed over to his family for burial. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.
SHO suspended
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) East Zone Nouman Siddiqui on Monday suspended SHO of the Brigade police station on Monday. SHO Safdar Brohi was suspended for allegedly harassing a woman. However, no notification was issued for the replacement of Brohi till the filing of this news report.
Three held
The Anti-Vehicles Lifting Cell (AVLC) on Sunday claimed to have arrested three suspects allegedly involved in the lifting of motorcycles. According to the AVLC spokesperson, their New Karachi division arrested two motorcycle lifters wanted in FIR No 79/20 registered in the Bilal Colony police station. The arrested suspects are Rameez and Saeed Khan.
The AVLC police also claimed to have found one stolen motorcycle in their possession. They said the motorcycle was stolen on March 1 in the Bilal Colony police remits. The AVLC spokesperson said the arrested suspects were drug addicts and habitual motorcycle lifters.
In another raid, the AVLC Malir police arrested a suspect allegedly involved in the motorcycle lifting and found a stolen motorcycle and a pistol in his possession. They said the motorbike was stolen on March 24 in the Shah Latif Town police station remits. The arrested suspect was identified as Allah Buksh. Cases against them have been registered and investigations are under way.
