Addressing the party meeting over video link, PML-N provincial President Amir Muqam alleged that the government had failed to take proper preventive steps against the spread of coronavirus despite the passage of three-month time since the outbreak started.

Demanding opening of coronavirus screening centres at district level, he said it was regrettable that the province was facing acute shortage of ventilators while half of the ventilators were out of order due to the negligence of government.

The PML-N leader said it was very unfortunate that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership was busy in victimisation and revengeful activities against his party leaders instead of taking effective steps for controlling the coronavirus.

He said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) fresh arrest warrant against former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi was a condemnable act at a time when the country needed collective efforts and unity against the Covid-19. The PML-N leader demanded that poor families should be given Rs15000 to 20000 a month as relief, utility bills including electricity and gas bills be waived off for three months and health insurance be announced for the doctors, paramedics, media and other frontline workers.

The meeting was attended by provincial cabinet, parliamentarians and district office-bearers through video link. Other PML-N leaders and elected public representatives also addressed the meeting. The meeting decided that the party would raise a volunteer force at provincial assembly constituency and union council level in all the districts for extending help to the people against coronavirus, PML-N provincial general secretary Murtaza Javed Abbasi termed Shahbaz Sharif return to the country a good decision and said he left his ailing brother abroad and came back to play his role in efforts against corona along with his workers and countrymen.
