Secys updated on anti-corona measures

LALAMUSA: Secretary Health Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan and Secretary Primary Health Captain (retd) Muhammad Usman Friday were updated on coronavirus precautionary measures in the office of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Gujrat.

The secretaries were told that all arrangements are complete to contain the spread of coronavirus.

Commissioner Gujranwala Division Syed Gulzar Hussain, Commissioner Rawalpindi Muhammad Mahmood, DC Gujrat Dr Khurram Shahzad, DC Jehlum Siaf Ullah and other officers also attended the meeting.

The DC Gujrat said some 135 suspects tested negative for the virus out of 310 suspects.

He said 21 patients tested positive for the virus across the district and 593 houses are put on quarantine where eatable things are being provided to the residents by the district administration.

Barrister Nabeel said the field hospital of 1,000 beds will be connected with the Mayo Hospital and the Punjab government is striving to purchase 250 new ventilators for coronavirus patients.

Captain (retd) Usman said medical camps will be established for the virus suspects and a coronavirus testing laboratory will be established in Wazirabad soon.

The secretaries said senior students of medical colleges will also be called and funds are being provided to relevant authorities to contain the pandemic.
