The citizens of Karachi should brace for a possible repeat of the June heat spell as the weather department has predicted a sharp rise in temperatures over the next three days.
Various reports indicate that mercury levels are likely to range from between 38 degrees Celsius to 42 degrees Celsius from Friday (today) till Sunday.
Though the city is often shielded from intense temperatures by the sea breeze blowing in from its southwestern beaches, experts say that warmer northwestern winds are likely in the city which would take temperatures to higher than 40 degrees Celsius. In June this year, an intense heat wave claimed nearly 2,000 lives across the province and, with the harrowing tragedy in mind, officials have advised citizens to increase fluid intake and avoid outdoor activities.
