Seized narcotics burnt in Burewala

BUREWALA: On the order of Vehari District and Sessions Judge Ghaffar Jalil, Civil Judge Ahmad Saeed along with Burewala circle police burnt a huge quantity of seized narcotics in a plot of Tehsil Complex on Wednesday.
The Burewala circle police had recovered narcotics including 1,650 grams charas, 104 grams heroin and 3,207 litres wine, after registering 501 cases against the accused persons during the last three years. On Wednesday, the police in the presence of the civil judge burnt the seized narcotics.
TREE PLANTATION CAMPAIGN LAUNCHED: Assistant Commissioner Saifullah Sajid on Wednesday inaugurated a tree plantation campaign here.
The AC inaugurated the campaign at the Divisional Public School. Speaking on the occasion, the AC said that trees purify air and give fresh strength to our people. He said that tree plantation was our national duty. He asked the students to take active part in the monsoon plantation drive. DSP Zulfiqar Ali also urged the students to make plantation drive a success. District Forest Officer Muhammad Raza Sabir informed that 45,000 saplings of flowers, shade plants and trees would be planted during the tree plantation campaign in the district. For this purpose, the department’s seven nurseries were providing plants at cheaper rates, he added. DPS Principal Professor Salahuddin Chaudhry and others were also present.
