‘Rescue-15’ of Islamabad Police received 13,408 phone calls during last week and provided immediate assistance on various help-seeking calls keeping in view the image of friendly-policing, a spokesman for the Islamabad Police said on Wednesday.
SSP Islamabad Sajid Kiani has said that quick response unit has been constituted at ‘Rescue-15’ with the sole purpose to provide immediate help to citizens in case of emergency and to handle issues like scuffles or domestic disputes till arrival of staff from local police stations.
In the performance report, the SSP was informed that 15 vehicles of ‘Rescue-15’ provided assistance to 515 people in their social matters, while forensic science laboratory collected evidences from 20 crime scenes.
A total of 5,029 callers were provided general information. The ambulance service of ‘Rescue-15’ shifted 153 patients to various hospitals while its staff at PIMS and Polyclinic assisted 32 people at their respective desks.
It’s bomb disposal squad conducted special checking at 21 important points of the city while 323 vehicles were checked at various locations. The vehicle verification staff of ‘Rescue-15’ checked 180 vehicles as well as motorbikes while Sui gas, Wapda and fire-brigade staff were intimated at nine occasions for immediate assistance in various areas.
The special squad constituted to curb begging activities shifted 285 professional alm-seekers in police stations.
Meanwhile, the SSP Sajid Kiani has directed ‘Rescue-15’ staff to ensure friendly-police ecology through their spirit to serve people. He also directed them to give importance to each call and also appealed the citizens to avoid making unnecessary calls as these only waste the time of police and deprive the deserving people from immediate help in the difficult time.
