Karachi witnessed another day of road tragedies with five people losing their lives and two others sustaining injuries during separate accidents reported in the megalopolis on Sunday. According to details, a teenage boy, Mehboob, was run over by a vehicle in Khuda Ki Basti.
The boy was 18 years old, said the Surjani Town police, adding that his body was moved to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for legal formalities. The police said efforts were being made to arrest the driver who escaped the scene after hitting the boy. A case has been registered against the unidentified driver.
In another accident, a 42-year-old man, identified as Imdad Ali, lost his life on the Baloch Colony flyover.
The body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for an autopsy. Similarly, an elderly woman died in a road crash near Gulshan-e-Maymar on Super Highway. The body was moved to the ASH for an autopsy. The woman was identified as 70-year-old Zareen Khan, daughter of Nausher Khan.
In another accident on Super Highway, a 35-year-old Khalid Javed, son of Sikandar, lost his life when a vehicle hit him. The body was moved to the ASH for medico-legal formalities.
Meanwhile, an eighteen-year-old boy, who is yet to be identified, was killed and two others – namely 18-year-old Bilal and 50-year-old Fazalur Rehman – were injured in a road crash near Shafiq Morr in North Karachi.
The body and the injured persons were taken to the ASH for an autopsy and medical treatment, respectively. A case has been registered against the unknown driver who hit them and then fled the scene.
