AIOU pursuing free education initiative

Islamabad : Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) will persistently pursue free-education initiative for four specific categories - prisoners, handicapped, transgender community and drop-out girls - to ensure their emancipation in future life.

Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Zia-Ul-Qayyum has clearly set out policy objectives that these people should take optimum benefit of AIOU’s incentives, so as to ensure their future targets and to have a dignified life in the society.

The AIOU’s standing policy fully focuses on taking care of marginalized sections of society and ensuring that nobody may be deprived of education, due to financial constraints, according to press release on Wednesday.

It is also aimed at encouraging these people to come into main-stream educational network.

The University has already opened first-phase of admissions that covers Matric, F.A. MS/M.Ph, PhD programmes. Persons of four-categories could apply for the admission by February 21 in line with prescribed rules and procedure, as laid down in the prospectus.
