One dead, two injured in mugging bids

A man lost his life and two others sustained bullet injuries for resisting separate mugging bids in the city on Wednesday.

According to the Jauharabad police, muggers shot at a man for resting their robbery attempt near Farooq-e-Azam Masjid in Gulberg Town. The police said rescuers took the victim to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The police said the deceased was identified as 42-year-old Atif Kamal, son of Muhammad Kamal. Efforts were being made to apprehend the culprits, the police added.

The police said they were trying to get footage of CCTV cameras installed near and around the crime scene. However, the police have yet to register a case. In another mugging incident, 30-yar-old man Mairaj, son of Khursheed, was shot and wounded in the SITE industrial area. According to the police, the injured was taken to the ASH for treatment.

In a third similar incident, a teenage boy, Bilal, 18, son of Yasin, was shot and injured near the Noorani Park in Orangi Town. He was taken to the ASH.
