Court grants seven-day remand of two Sindh govt officials

SUKKUR: The Accountability Court, Sukkur, has granted seven days of remand of two arrested executive engineers of Works and Services department, Shikarpur, in a corruption reference on Monday.

Reports said the National Accountability Bureau, Sukkur ,had conducted raids in Karachi and Hyderabad, and arrested executive engineer Works and Services Shikarpur, Tufail Ahmed Khoso, and XEN Works and Services Allah Ditto Panhyar on Rs149 million alleged corruption.

The sources said the arrested officials had issued a cheque of the mentioned amount in the name of a contractor, identified as Muhammad Ali, for the construction of a road and then they drew and transferred the money to the account of Abdul Razzaq Behrani, the alleged frontman of the Adviser to the CM Aijaz Khan Jakhrani.

The Accountability Court, Sukkur, upon the request of the NAB granted seven days remand of the alleged corrupt officials of Works and Services Dept, Shikarpur, and ordered to present them on 27th January.

It may be mentioned that the NAB on January 14 had filed a reference of Rs800 million of corruption against Aijaz Khan Jakrani and five other accomplices, and had also submitted a supplementary challan to the Accountability Court, Sukkur.
