Commenting on the purpose and objectives of the APCPC 2020, Muhammad Ahmed Waheed President, Tahir Abbasi Senior Vice President and Saif ur Rahman Khan Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI) said that due to high interest rates, devaluation of rupee, repeated increase in the prices of electricity, gas and petroleum products and hike in taxes, cost of doing business in Pakistan has increased significantly due to which business and industrial activities have stagnated, exports were suffering and overall economy was facing great problems in growth. In these circumstances, ICCI has felt the need to organize APCPC 2020 to bring Presidents of leading Chambers of Commerce & Industry of the country at one platform in order to discuss in detail the key issues of business community and give suggestions to the government for resolving them.

They said that to put Pakistan on the path of sustainable economic growth, it was necessary to create conducive environment for businesses including SMEs, manufacturing sector and investment. They said that for this purpose, it was necessary that government should take business leadership of the country on board and make economic policies in consultation with them that would facilitate better growth of business activities and help in reviving the economy.
