Traffic plan announced for upcoming Pakistan-Sri Lanka Test match

The Karachi traffic police on Sunday announced the traffic diversion plan for the upcoming Pakistan-Sir Lanka test match scheduled from December 19 till December 23 at the National Stadium of Pakistan.

The traffic plan was finalised after Traffic Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Javed Ali Mehar held

meetings with his subordinates and other relevant authorities.

Parking arrangements

Parking arrangements have been made for those planning to view the match at the stadium. To avail the parking facility at the designated parking places, people will have to show their original ticket and CNIC.

Those coming to the stadium from District South through Sharea Faisal will have to turn to Shahrah-e-Qauideen in order to reach University Road from where they could park their vehicles at the Expo Centre Gate 1 and go out from its Gate 2 for the stadium.

Viewers coming from District Malir and Korangi will turn to Rashid Minhas Road from Sharea Faisal from where they will switch to University Road from NIPA in order to reach the Expo Centre Gate 1.

The cricket enthusiasts from District Central and District West are directed to reach Hasan Square through Liaquatabad No 10, where they can turn left for University Road and take the first U-turn to reach the Expo Centre Gate 1.

Diversions

All kind of traffic coming from Karsaz will not be permitted to use the Stadium Flyover towards Hassan Square. These vehicles will be allowed to take left towards the Aga Khan Hospital and New Town or right towards the Millennium Mall.

Similarly all kind of traffic coming from Liaquatbad No 10, Gharibabad will not be permitted to use the Hassan Square Flyover towards the National Stadium. The vehicles on the flyover will be diverted to University Road through a ramp.

The traffic coming from the Aga Khan Hospital or Karsaz or Dalmia Road will not be able to use Sir Shah Suleman Road towards the Hassan Square Flyover. All the vehicles coming from Aga Khan Hospital will be diverted towards Dalmia Road leading to the Millennium Mall.

University Road, Shaheed-e-Millat Road and Rashid Minhas Road will remain open for traffic. All commuters from Centre, East, Malir, South and West can use both sides of the Lyari Expressway from Mirza Adam Khan Chowk, Mauripur Road, up to Sohrab Goth.

No heavy traffic

No heavy vehicle shall be permitted to proceed from Sohrab Goth to NIPA, from Liaquatabad No 10 to Hassan Square and from PP Chowrangi to University Road.

Those wanting to view the match have also been advised not to park their vehicles on service road or main road. In case of inconvenience, they have been told to dial the traffic police helpline Rahnuma-1915 to receive guidance. The traffic police can also be approached through WhatsApp No 0305-9266907.
