‘Online system for admission to Punjab varsities next year’

LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar has said the Combined Online Admission System will be launched by next year for admissions to all the universities and the government has worked out a 10-year project for establishment of one university in every district of the province.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the government has saved the country from bankruptcy through well-conceived economic policies, said the Punjab governor while talking to Provincial Energy Minister Dr Akhtar Malik, Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Vice-Chancellor Zia Ullah Qayyum, Government College University (GCU) Faisalabad VC Dr Shahid Kamal and other delegates at Governor’s House here on Friday.

Talking to the VC, Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar said that government had prepared a 10-year road map under which a university in every district of Punjab and an international standard university at the divisional level would be established. In the first year of the project, work is in progress on eight universities. First time in history of Punjab, all the appointments in universities ranging from the posts of VCs to the low level are being made on 100 per cent merit and it is also responsibility of the VC to ensure merit and transparency in the universities. He said no leniency in this regard would be tolerated.

Talking to the provincial energy minister, the Punjab governor said that Pakistan was getting on its feet economically following the effective measures taken by the government for economic revival. International economic institutions are also supporting Pakistan and Insha Allah Pakistan will be pulled out of economic and other crises, he said. All the promises made with people will be fulfilled, he said.
