Sindh government approves 273 appointments under deceased quota

The Sindh government on Thursday approved 237 appointments in various departments against the deceased quota and also directed the deputy commissioners to expedite the process of deciding pending recruitment cases which had been earlier approved.

As many as 3,038 cases of the deceased quota have been approved in 2019 and all candidates have got their offer orders.

Many of them have also joined various departments of Sindh. This information was shared by Chief Secretary Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah while presiding over a meeting on the implementation of a government decision to recruit people against the deceased quota.

The meeting gave approval to 273 appointments in various government departments, including 13 in the Board of Revenue, 10 in health, 19 in agriculture, supply and prices, 81 in school education, nine in home (including police), 20 in local government, 52 in irrigation, 13 in population welfare, 13 works & services, three in each in college education, SGA&CD and Auqaf, 11 in public health engineering, 13 in livestock & fisheries, one each in the departments of empowerment of persons with disabilities, information, forest and social welfare.

The meeting was informed by the provincial secretaries that various cases which were previously approved by the competent authorities were pending with different recruitment committees (DRCs) in various districts of Sindh.

On this, the chief secretary directed Additional Secretary Services Saeed Ahmed Sheikh to submit details of the pending cases with different deputy commissioner for the DRCs. He also directed all the deputy commissioners to expedite the process of recruitment against the deceased quota by holding meetings of the DRCs.

Giving directives for adhering to transparency in the recruitment process, Shah said he would review cases after every 15 days. The meeting was attended by Senior Member Board of Revenue Qazi Shahid Pervez, Secretary for Agriculture Agha Zaheerudin, Secretary for Excise Abdul Haleem Sheikh, Secretary for Health Zahid Abbasi, Secretary for Forest Abdul Rahim Soomro, Secretary for Culture Ghulam Akbar lighari, Additional Secretary Services Saeed Ahmed Sheikh and other secretaries of the departments concerned.
