ISLAMABAD: The ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) central Vice-President Zahid Hussain Kazmi Sunday emphasised that protection of life and property of citizens must be the top priority of the administration, free of political meddling.

He said this during separate meetings with Rawalpindi Commissioner, Muhammad Mehmood and Regional Police Officer, Sohail Habib Tajik. “For maintenance of peace and tranquility, masses faith in the police is imperative. Instead of sticking to the routine practices, serving the public will have to be taken as a mission,” he contended.

Kazmi emphasised that the PTI was committed to adherence to rooting out political meddling in administrative affairs, and measures would have to be taken to address issues of public at their doorsteps.

He continued that in line with the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan, the able committee officers, on the basis of merit and ability, were required to double their efforts for addressing of the common man’s issues.

This, he said, was necessary to bringing political and administrative harmony so as to providing relief to public in their day to day affairs. He regretted that in the past regimes, rampant political meddling and corruption caused massive harm to the administrative structure.

However, he argued, the PTI government was treading the path of its reforms and instead of following the tried and tested mechanisms, new and innovative approach was being adopted to serving the masses in the best possible way. He said that the proactive role of the administration was key to provision of basic amenities to people.
