Two suspected robbers caught by citizens

Two suspected criminals were caught and beaten up by a crowd in District East on Sunday. According to police, two suspects on a motorcycle were robbing a citizen near Madras Chowk in Scheme 33 within the remits of the Sacchal police station when a citizen, Rehmat Shah, hit them with his car.

As a result, the suspects fell on the road with their motorcycle and were caught by the people nearby who severely thrashed them. Responding to the information, rescue workers and police reached the scene and dispersed the crowd. Police took both the injured suspects into custody.

Police said the arrested suspects have been identified as Gulistan Afghani and Ahmed Shah and stolen mobile phones, cash and weapons were recovered from their possession. The injured suspects were shifted to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment. Cases were registered against them and further investigations are under way.

Two cops injured

Two policemen were wounded in a firing incident on Sunday in Orangi Town. According to police, the incident took place in Dakkhana Sector 8 near the Ibrahim Ali Bhai School within the limits of the Orangi Town police station.

They were identified as Constable Tariq Lodhi, 50, son of Liaquat Ali, and Iqbal, 60, son of Haji Samiullah, who were posted at Khawaja Ajmair Nagri police station. Responding to the information, police reached the crime scene and inquired into the incident. They said the incident took place when unidentified armed men opened fire on the cops when they offered resistance during a robbery bid.

Policeman thrashed

A policeman, identified as 30-year-old Sarim, son of Saleem Umar, was injured in the Baloch Colony area within the jurisdiction of the Tipu Sultan police station.

According to initial reports, Constable Sarim posted at the Gulberg police station was injured when he was punched and kicked during a dispute between two neighbours, Kashif and Matloob, in Umer Colony near Wahid Masjid.

The injured cop was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. Further investigations are under way.

Rangers arrest 13

The Sindh Rangers rounded up 13 suspects during different raids carried out in the city. According to a paramilitary spokesperson, raids were conducted in Papoosh Nagar, Model Colony, Al-Falah, Saeedabad and Baldia Town, Arambagh and Sadar areas.

The arrested suspects are Muhammad Rehan, Muhammad Saleem alias Kana, Muhammad Zubair, Muhammad Waqas, Bilal Ahmed, Naveed Ali, Qasim, Sikander and Shehroz, Abdul Latif, Ikraam Zaada, Rasheed Ahmed and Muhammad Saleem, he said.
