NAB additional prosecutor general resigns

ISLAMABAD: The Additional Prosecutor General Accountability (APGA) of the National Accountability Bureau, Syed Nayyer Abbas Rizvi, has tendered his resignation to NAB Chairman Justice (R) Javed Iqbal on Wednesday. In his letter of resignation, APGA Syed Nayyer Abbas Rizvi stated that it’s time to revert back to private practice and attend to his personal matters requires more attention. “Since my contract requires one-month advance notice, this resignation may kindly be accepted with effect from 4-1-2020. Syed Nayyar Abbas Rizvi was appointed additional prosecutor general accountability for a tenure of 3-years on 13-2-2019 and was appearing before the courts in high profile cases. He also appeared before the court on behalf of the NAB in a bail case of former Prime Minister Nawaz in Al-Azizia Reference. Rizvi also appeared before the courts on behalf of the NAB in cases against Shahbaz Sharif with regard to money laundering. In his resignation notice, he stated that it was not easy to finalise the decision of leaving as the association he made during whole his service tenure of approximately of one year was truly memorable for years to come.

Appreciating the NAB chairman, he stated that “your guidance and support was a beacon of light and strength. I really enjoyed working with my colleagues and staff members.”
