Karachi Mayor Wasim Akhtar on Friday inaugurated the executive dental clinic at the Karachi Medical and Dental College (KMDC).
Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Metropolitan Commissioner Dr Syed Saif ur Rehman, Senior Director Medical Services Dr Salma Kausar, KMDC Principal Prof Dr Mahmood Haider and other faculty members and students were also present on this occasion.
Speaking to the media, Akhtar said Karachi had the right to get one per cent cess from the revenue collected within the city. The KMC be given an additional Rs3 billion per annum in the head of cess, he demanded.
He complained that the Sindh government was not giving resources and powers to the local bodies under the Sindh Local Government Act, 2013. He announced that he will be approaching the judiciary to get the issue resolved “because now all problems are solved through courts only.”
