APC nominates team to propose names for CEC, members ECP

ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Conference (APC) of the Opposition has nominated three-member committee to propose the names for Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and two members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) from Sindh and Balochistan. The Opposition committee comprises Akram Khan Durrani, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari and Ahsan Iqbal and has been tasked to finalise three names each for the post of CEC and two members of ECP from Balochistan and Sindh. The Opposition committee after finalising the names for the vacant posts on behalf of Rehbar Committee of Opposition will forward the consensus names for the ECP to opposition leader in the National Assembly Shahbaz Sharif to send these names to Prime Minister Imran Khan as per constitutional requirement. The posts of two members from Sindh and Balochistan is still vacant and retirement of CEC is also due on December 6, this year.
