Sindh leaders of all the nine political parties that formed an alliance under the Rahbar Committee have decided to launch a series of district-level protests across the province to mount up pressure on the federal government of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Provincial leaders of the Rahbar Committee’s nine component parties attended the meeting in Karachi on Thursday. They discussed the political situation following their announcement on Tuesday of reopening the roads they had blocked in different cities of the country under Plan B of their anti-government protest.
As part of the next phase of the protest campaign, the Rahbar Committee has decided to collectively hold public meetings at district levels throughout the country. Pakistan Peoples Party’s Waqar Mehdi, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s Mohammad Zubair, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl’s Allama Rashid Mehmood Soomro, Awami National Party’s Shahi Syed, Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party’s Nazir Jan Lala, and leaders of National Party, Qaumi Watan Party, Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan and Markazi Jamiat Ahle Hadees attended the meeting.
The alliance is all set to announce its next step of the ongoing protest and the implementation of Plan C on Friday (today) afternoon during a news conference at the Karachi Press Club.
The leaders of the component parties told The News that all the opposition parties have agreed on jointly agitating at district level and setting up a protest camp outside the election commission’s provincial office in the context of the foreign funding case against the ruling PTI.
