Robbers kill minor girl, injure uncle in Surjani Town

A minor girl was killed and her maternal uncle was injured over offering resistance to a robbery bid in Surjani Town on Tuesday.

The incident took place in Yaro Goth within the limits of the Surjani Town police station. They were immediately taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced three-year-old Sidra dead while Abdul Hameed remained admitted to the hospital.

Responding to the information, police reached the scene and inquired about the incident. According to Surjani Town SHO Iftikhar Qureshi, two armed men riding a motorcycle attempted to snatch a motorcycle from Hameed. On offering resistance, one of the robbers opened fire on him, injuring him and his niece. The robbers managed to escape after committing the crime. The SHO said that he was giving rounds to his niece on the motorcycle near their house when the robbers tried to rob him. A case has been registered while an investigation is underway.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Dr Syed Kaleem Imam also took notice of the incident and sought a detailed report from District West SSP, ordering him to arrest the suspects involved in the incident.

Scrap dealer shot dead

A scrap dealer was shot dead in Lines Area within the limits of the Brigade police station. Police said that the victim was at his shop when two armed men riding a motorcycle snatched his wallet containing Rs2,500 from him and left the shop, then they entered the shop again and shot him.

The injured man was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment. He was identified as 38-year-old Imran, son of Ghulam Mustafa, who hailed from Multan. According to SHO Naveed Soomro, the incident apparently took place over personal enmity but the suspects tried to change the nature of the incident by looting cash from the victim.
