Typhoid drive in District West to inoculate over 1.4m kids

A vaccination campaign against typhoid will start in District West on Monday (today) and target more than 1.4 million children. A conference was held on Sunday under West Deputy Commissioner Fayyaz Alam Solangi to finalise the preparations for the 12-day drive starting across Sindh today.

District Health Officer Dr Shafiq said that children aged between nine months and 15 years will be vaccinated during the typhoid campaign, adding that 552,627 children from 3,225 private and public schools and 168,492 children from seminaries will be vaccinated in the district.

Solangi appealed to the people to participate in this campaign to get rid of the disease. He said that diseases can be cured through vaccinations.

In the conference, shields and certificates were distributed among the best performers in different fields. It was attended by security institutions, the World Health Organisation, Unicef and health officials.
