An activist of the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) was among three people gunned down in separate incidents on Sunday.
Twenty-five-year-old Noman Munawar was shot dead, in Orangi Town sector-11½, by unidentified assailants while he was on his way to a mosque to offer Isha prayers, informed SHO Iqbal Market police station, Ijaz Khan. According to the SHO, Munawwar was a resident of the same area.
He was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) in a critical condition; however, he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
The police officials further claimed that a 9mm pistol was used in the attack and spent bullet casings had been collected from the crime scene.
The murder was termed to be an act of targeted killing as his elder brother, also a member of the MQM, was allegedly targeted in the same area a few months ago. A case was reported and investigations are underway.
In Nazimabad-III, Rehan, 38, Saeed, 60, were shot dead while another man, Imran, got injured after two men opened fire at a roadside hotel.
According to SHO of the Nazimabad police station, Thar Malik, deceased Rehan and injured Imran were employees of the hotel whereas Saeed was a customer.
Rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) in an injured condition, Rehan and Saeed later died on the way to the hospital.
The police official claimed the attackers had used a 9mm pistol and added that spent bullet shells were confiscated from the scene.
The murder was said to be an incident of target killing, however, other aspects were also said to be investigated.
A man named, Rasool Bux, was shot dead while two others were injured in a dispute in Zia Colony, Korangi late on Saturday night.
SHO of the Korangi Industrial Area police station, Sagheer, informed that Bux was a resident of the same area and was allegedly killed in a dispute with the two injured, Mehboob and Ayaz. The official claimed that the three had pulled out their

weapons following an argument.
The deceased and the injured were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for completion of post-mortem examination and treatment respectively.
SHO Sagheer also claimed to have arrested the injured from the hospital.
Body found
A mutilated body of a man was found from the Quaidabad area, within the jurisdiction of the Shah Latif police station on Sunday morning.
The body appeared to have torture marks and stab wounds; it was later shifted to the JPMC for post-mortem examination.
The police officials claimed the deceased was kidnapped from an unidentified location while his body was dumped in their area after being killed elsewhere. The exact motive behind the murder could be ascertained after the deceased was identified, a police official claimed.
