Islamabad: On the orders of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Maroof Afzal, the construction work on the expansion of a residential project (Parliament Lodges) for parliamentarians has been expedited.
The residential project remained stalled for some time. The construction work on Parliament Lodges would be completed by September 2016 under the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP). The PC-1 for the construction of Parliament Lodges has been approved by ECNEC, while the CDWP has approved the PC-2 of the residential project.
The expansion project of Parliament Lodges was launched in 2011, but due to slow pace of work by the contractor, the project was delayed.
The CDA member engineering issued a show-cause notice and imposed fine on the contractor. However, the contractor filed the case in the court and the project was delayed.
The matter was resolved mutually through reconciliation process on the intervention of the Committee for Parliament House and Library, so that the construction work on the Parliament Lodges could be completed without further delay.
The CDA member engineering has been directed to complete the remaining construction work on the Parliament Lodges project at an accelerated pace. While payment against the construction work on the Parliament Lodges has been made to the contractor.
There are two blocks of the under-construction Parliament Lodges with 52 suites in each block.
These residential block include service block, mosque, 500 servant quarters and visitor halls while the residential blocks are facilitated with car parking, elevators and fire safety system.
As much as 23 per cent construction work on the Parliament Lodges has already been completed. The CDA chairman has directed the concerned formations of the authority to ensure completion of the residential project for parliamentarians by September 2016.
