MULTAN: A nine-year-old girl kidnapped from Karachi was recovered from Multan by her relatives as people shaved the kidnapper’s head and fastened him to a power pylon in punishment on Monday.
Abdul Jabbar said his niece Tayyaba was kidnapped from Karachi more than a month ago with the abductor, Salim, wanting to sell her to a gang, adding that the relatives living in Multan made efforts to trace out Salim. According to Jabbar, the kidnapper is a criminal who had sold his wife sometimes back.
The kidnapped girl, Tayyaba, said she was abducted from the Sher Shah area of Karachi after which he was brought to Multan and physically tortured. Salim is a vendor and sells food on cart in Karachi. He established relations with Tayyaba like a father and then abducted her to sell to a gang. Tayyaba’s relatives came to know about her whereabouts and finally recovered her from Qilla Qasim Bagh. They contacted the police who refused to investigate the matter and asked the family to bring back the accused to Karachi on their own and hand over him to Karachi police. Jabbar said the Karachi police demanded Rs 150,000 for visiting Multan. The poor family has decided to keep the accused in their custody and is now leaving Multan for Karachi to hand over the kidnapper to the police in Karachi.
