Islamabad: Though the upgrade of the National Institute of Science and Technical Education (NISTE) to the country’s first technical university has long been in the works, it appears things are fast shaping up for it these days.
According to an official in the know, the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training is in the process of developing PC-1 of the much-delayed project.
“Once the PC-1 secures the nod of all the concerned, the NISTE will be upgraded to the National Skills University of Science and Technology with an aim to offer career oriented programmes on a research-based curriculum,” he said.
Pending since 2011 has been the upgrade of the institute, which offers teacher training programmes in various fields of science and technical education.
