The eleventh match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has been abandoned due to rain without a ball being bowled, even the toss could not take place .

The umpires found after inspecting the pitch twice that the game was not possible due to few watery patches on the field.

As a result of this match being called off, both Sri Lanka and Pakistan have been awarded one point each.

The game was scheduled to begin at 10:30 (0930 GMT) but was eventually called off in the afternoon

Pakistan lost their first match by seven wickets against West Indies and won the second by 14 runs against England.

Sri Lanka lost their first match by ten wickets against New Zealand and won the second by 34 runs against Afghanistan.

Interestingly, both teams have come back from their humiliating defeats to win their second matches.

Pakistan have so far played 73 matches in the history of the World Cup with 41 victories and 30 defeats, two matches had no no result. Winning percentage was 57.74.

Sri Lanka have so far played 75 World Cup matches. They won 36 and lost as many matches, with one tied and two NR matches. Winning percentage was 50.00.

Both played seven matches against each other in the World Cup and Pakistan defeated Sri Lanka in all these matches.

Now for the first time, Sri Lanka have avoided a defeat against Pakistan in a World Cup game.

On the other hand, this is unfortunate for Pakistan to lose one point. Each of the teams has obtained three points from three matches in the tournament.
