‘Ringleader’ of car-lifting gang held

ACLC says the ringleader is an Anti-Encraochment Cell cop

The Anti-Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) busted a gang of vehicle-lifters and arrested its ringleader, who is also a serving cop, in a raid in North Nazimabad on Friday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Syed Irfan Ali Bahadur said police had been investigating allegations that a policeman posted at the Anti-Encroachment Cell (AEC) was operating the gang.
He said an ACLC team conducted a raid on a hideout in North Nazimabad after receiving a tip-off on Friday morning. During the raid, Police Constable (PC) Hameed Khan was arrested and eight vehicles, including four Hi-roofs and a Suzuki pickup, were seized from his hideout.
The vehicles had been the stolen from Gulshan, Rizvia and New Town police limits.
SSP Bahadur said Hameed’s gang consisted of Farooq Chisiti alias Saddat, Muzamil, Sami, Anas Baig and Raju alias Denter, and police were conducting raids to arrest them.
The gang used to steal vehicles in North Nazimabad, Nazimabad, Gulshan, PECHS and Bahadurabad. Its members had a master key to open the door locks, and one of the suspects was said to be an expert in making the tracker ineffective.
The SSP said the gang used to take the lifted vehicles to Balochistan, and sold them there.
Four killed in road accidents
Four people including two women, were killed in road accidents.
Sixty-year-old Sughra Iqbal, was died while her daughter-in-law Sakeena, 28, got injured when a speeding vehicle ran them over while crossing the road near Khayaban-e-Bukhari, DHA.
An unidentified woman died in a hit-and-run incident near the Qayyumabad bridge while she was crossing the road.
Muhammad Asim, 24, died after a reckless vehicle rammed into his motorcycle near Metroville, situated within the SITE-A police station. An unidentified man appearing to be around 40 years of age died after a speeding vehicle hit his motorcycle near Liquatabad No 10.
