ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Monday admitted for regular hearing a petition filed by former judge of Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui against his removal by the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC).

Hearing the petition, a five-member larger bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Mushir Alam, set aside the objections raised by the registrar’s office and admitted it for regular hearing. Last year on October 26, Justice Siddiqui had challenged the SJC’s decision in the Supreme Court.

The SJC recommended his removal from the post for violating the judges’ code of conduct.

The registrar office had raised objections to Justice Siddiqui’s petition and consequently he filed an appeal against the registrar’s objections.
