JICA offers support for educational goals

Islamabad : Japan International Cooperation Agency Vice President Dr. Toda Takao appreciated the steps taken by Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training Shafqat Mahmood for the promotion of education and skill development and offered his organisation's support for the purpose.

"We are looking forward to working closely with the government of Pakistan in the field of literacy, out-of-school children, and skill development," he told the minister during a meeting here on Wednesday.

Dr Toda said the JICA was currently working on the assessment of all its education projects in Pakistan and would make them more effective.

"We will assist the Ministry of Federal Education in all its initiatives and will share our international experiences in the field of literacy," he said.

The education minister thanked JICA support for the promotion of the cause of education in Pakistan.

He said Pakistan was facing various challenges in the education sector. “Among these challenges improving the Literacy Rate and bringing the out of school children to schools are the main priorities,” he said.

Shafqat Mahmood said as per the vision of the Prime Minister Imran Khan, we are working relentlessly in the education sector to bring positive changes in it while taking all the stakeholders on board.

“Education is the Primary focus of this government and the only way out of poverty is through pursuing Education and Professional Training”, added the Federal Education Minister.

He said the ministry was working on introducing a nationwide literacy programme to drastically improve the literacy rate in Pakistan.
