The request for preserving the area exclusively for farming was made by Novjot Singh Sidhu in a letter to the Government of Pakistan, according to Information and Broadcasting Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain.

The meeting reviewed progress on development work at the Kartarpur Corridor, added the minister. The PM was given a detailed briefing by Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) on the work undertaken thus far.

Kartarpur Corridor is a project of 1,500 acres of land, inaugurated by Prime Minister Imran Khan in January this year. Fawad Chaudhry said a road of 6.8 kilometres would be constructed to facilitate the Sikh pilgrims coming to visit the shrine.
