The police said that the incident took place at Sea View near Canteen No. 2 in which two people, namely 10-year-old Talha Waseem and 19-year-old Mir Hamza, son of Mir Islam, were wounded. The injured were immediately taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment, they added.

The officials said that the incident took place after a group of five friends reached Sea View by car in the morning with the intention of picnicking. The police said that one of the friends pulled out a pistol from the car and started firing randomly after an argument broke out between him and Mehmood, alias Motta, who acts as a guide for those interested in horse riding at the beach.

As a result of the bullets ricocheting, 10-year-old passerby Talha Waseem and 19-year-old horse rider Mir Hamza suffered injuries and were later taken to the Jinnah Hospital. The police immediately arrived on the scene and arrested Mehmood Motta. However, the five friends, one of whom had fired the gunshots, managed to flee from the beach. A case has been registered and further investigation into the incident is under way.
