Swine flu patient dies at BVH

BAHAWALPUR: A woman died of swine flu at Bahawal Victoria Hospital on Sunday.According to Focal Person for swine flu at BVH Dr Amir Mehmood Bukhari, Maryam Bibi of Muzaffargarh was admitted to the hospital for swine flu four days ago. She died due to the virus today, he told. He said that 81 patients were brought to the hospital for swine flu and the virus was detected in 16 patients. He informed that eight patients had died so far due to the swine flu.

Eight suspects held: Police have arrested eight suspects, including four drug peddlers and two proclaimed offenders.

On a tip-off, the police parties raided and arrested four drug peddlers and recovered liquor and drug from their possession. The police recovered 130 litres liquor and 4kg narcotics from them. The police also took four other suspects into custody, including two proclaimed offenders. The police recovered a rifle, a pistol and nine cartridges from the possession of the suspects.

More rain forecast for Bahawalpur: The Met Office has forecast more rains might lash Bahawalpur and adjoining areas during the next 24 hours.

According to the local Met Office, Bahawalpur and adjoining areas might receive rain during the next 24 hours. It forecast partly cloudy to cloudy weather with chances of rain for the next two to three days. The city had already received rain on Saturday. The maximum temperature was recorded 26 Centigrade and minimum 10 Centigrade.

Farmer electrocuted: A farmer was electrocuted at Chak Abdulla near Chishtian on Sunday.

Muhammad Tahir was busy working in his fields when his hand accidentally touched a naked wire of a water pump. As a result, he received electric shocks and died on the spot.
