An accountability court had awarded him seven year jail and Rs1.5 billion fine last year in Al-Azizia reference case.

The Division Bench of Islamabad High Court comprising of Justice Aamir Farooq and Justice Mohsin Akhtar Kiyani will resume the hearing and announce verdict at 12 pm. The bench has reserved its verdict on February 20.

Nawaz’s counsel Khawaja Haris had argued in the court that former PM is unwell and doctors have suggested him angiography. He said his client is suffering from diseases because of the tense atmosphere of the jail. He has requested the court to release the former premier so that he can have good medical treatment.

On the other hand National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has argued in the court that Nawaz’ plea is not maintainable, as this is not the case of hardship.
