According to a KE spokesperson, the factory management had been served with notices several times to clear dues of over Rs5.6 million, but they had continued to ignore the notices. The raid was part of a massive crackdown against defaulters and thieves of electricity in different parts of the city, the spokesperson added.

“The KE will continue to intensify such drives against defaulters and power thieves, and violators will be subject to disconnection along with prosecution that can lead to penalty as high as Rs6 million and imprisonment of up to seven years in line with the Criminal Law (Amendment) Act of 2016.”

Initiative for industries

K-Electric’s customer-centric initiatives for industries were highlighted during the Sindh Doing Business Reforms Exhibition II organised by the Sindh Investment Department in conjunction with the World Bank at a local hotel on Thursday.
