Senate body rejects Indian allegations against Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Senate Standing Committee on Interior passed a resolution rejecting India’s baseless allegations and threats against Pakistan after Pulwama attack. The committee also demanded of the World Bank to take serious notice of violation of the Indus Waters Treaty by India as it has blocked water after the incident of Pulwama.
The committee passed the resolution in a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Interior held on Friday in the Parliament House with the chair of its Chairman Senator Rehman Malik and was attended by Senators Muhammad Javed Abbasi, Asad Ali Khan Junejo, Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh, Haji Momin Khan Afridi, Sardar Muhammad Shafiq Tareen, Dr Shahzad Waseem, Kauda Babar and Mohsin Aziz. Senior officers from the Ministry of Interior and Law, Islamabad chief commissioner, officials from Punjab Police and others also attended the meeting
Senate Standing Committee on Interior Chairman Senator Rehman Malik presented the resolution strongly rejecting “baseless Indian allegations” and was unanimously passed by the committee.
He reads the resolution as “The Senate Standing Committee on Interior condemns the recent statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for straight away alleging Pakistan for Pulwama attack which was alleged within few minutes of the incident. The Senate Standing Committee on Interior strongly rejects the Indian baseless allegations against Pakistan which has already denied this allegation and even has offered full help and support in the investigation. We demand from India to provide the actionable intelligence and evidence enabling Pakistan to investigate the role of any non-state actor on this side. The committee condemns the blockage of water announced by the minister for water of India, which is against “The Indus Water Treaty” signed in 1960. The committee appeals to the World Bank to take notice of this blockage of Water by India.”
Senator Kauda Babar said that despite the fact that Indian spy agent Kulbbushan Yadhav was caught red handed inside Pakistan who was found involved in terrorism in Balochistan, yet Pakistan is blamed for terrorism? He said that India is involved in terrorists’ activities in Balochistan which was confessed by its spy agent with all evidence.
Senator Javed Abbasi, while endorsing the resolution, said that blaming Pakistan is part of Modi’s election campaign, and we strongly reject such baseless allegations.
Senator A Rehman Malik said the Indian spy agency Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) launches the Pulwama attack like attacks only to defame Pakistan, and the attack was aimed at weaken Pakistan’s stance against its spy commander Kulbhushan Jadhav in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) and to benefit Modi in elections as he has always played anti-Pakistan card during his election campaigns.
Senator Rehman Malik said that the recent media reports and allegations of India on Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) has raised some serious questions. “Hence we need to revisit the National Action Plan (NAP) especially the points which were related to Madrassah Reforms, extremism and religious extremism,” he said. He said that it is the need of the hour that stern actions against all the terrorists’ organisations should be taken, and NAP to be implemented in its true letter and spirits. He has directed the ministry of interior to brief the committee on so far implementation done on the National Action Plan and on progress of Madrassah Reforms. He has asked the Ministry of Interior to brief the committee on following:
1. It is a fact that Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) was proscribed in 2002 by the Government of Pakistan. Is The Ministry of Interior is monitoring its activities, and the activities of its ex-leaders?
2. Was there any report regarding activities of banned organisations under any new other name? If so, provide full details?
3. Has JeM any capability to undertake any such operation in India, since its proscription?
4. Is there any physical presence of JeM anywhere in the country, if so, provide details of its office?
Earlier in his opening remarks, Rehman Malik said that he was pleased to inform the committee that President Financial Action Task Force (FATF) has endorsed his letter regarding Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He said that last week, he has written a letter to Marshall Billingslea, President, Financial Action Task Force (FATF) urging him to take action against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for protecting international fugitives involved in biggest ever credit fraud and money laundering and terror financing. He said in his letter, he had explained that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is abetting money launderers and was also involved in terror financing as he is financing terrorist organisation RSS.
He said that in his letter he had written that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is protecting a businessman who had defrauded 45 international banks based in UAE between 1980 and 1998, which has been termed as the biggest credit fraud in the history of international banking. “They had conned these banks of $360 million which were later laundered throughout Middle East as well as European countries. These fugitives are known as Madhav Patel and his father B M Patel, who had colluded with each other in the commission of the above referred fraud, “he said
Senator Malik said that Financial Action Task Force (FATF) president in his reply writes: “FATF is a policy-making body works to generate necessary political will to bring about legislative and regulatory reform in the areas and FATF has no investigative functions. If FATF has no investigative functions and is reluctant to take any action against an individual i.e. PM Narendra Modi for terror financing, then how it is taking actions against Pakistan--being a sovereign State,” questions Senator Rehman Malik.
He said soon he will be calling a meeting of the committee on the agenda to frame a lawful and detailed answer to the FATF president, asking if FATF cannot proceed and take action against PM Narendra Modi then how against Pakistan, it is proceeding and pressuring?
The Senate committee unanimously agreed and recommended “The Real Estate (Regulation and Development) bill moved by Senator Mohsin Aziz. The committee thoroughly discussed and considered the bill.
The Senate committee chairman, while highly appreciating the mover, said that such legislation is the need of the hour and said the contribution of Senator Javed Abbasi are highly commendable. He said that a former CDA chairman has signed and awarded a contract to a private housing society to develop E-11 Sector and had released a huge compensation for the owner of the society surfacing massive irregularities.
He has directed the CDA chairman to submit a comprehensive report on the matter to the committee. The Senator committee also discussed in detail the procedure being adopted by the government for appointment of the CDA chairman. The committee recommended that Parliament should do necessary legislation in the appointment of the CDA chairman and the Islamabad High Court may be informed accordingly.
Senator Rehman Malik directed the CDA that list of educational institutions in each sector be shared with the committee and also the details of commercial areas and activities in each sector.
The committee discussed in detail the matter of theft of mobile phones from Faisalabad Dry Port and directed the authorities to recover the stolen phones at any cast. The committee was briefed by the DIG Faisalabad Police and collector Customs and they were given final chance to ensure the recovery of phones.
He constituted a committee consisting of its members Senator Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh and Senator Kauda Baber to visit Faisalabad Dry Port, ensure the recovery of phones and submit a report to the committee.
