‘Cop killer’ among three suspects arrested

The Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Sindh police arrested three suspects, including a cop killer, during a raid on Thursday.

SIU chief SSP Noman Siddiqui told a press conference that Habib, Imam Bukhsh and Shahid Hussain, associated with the Lyari gang war, were arrested during a raid conducted on a tip-off in Mawach Goth.

The initial investigation showed that one of the suspects, Habib, was involved in the murder of a policeman, Muhammad Farooq, who was gunned down when police conducted a raid at a drug den in Pak Colony on February 12.

They suspects were involved in drug peddling in the city and several cases were registered against them at different police stations. Cases have been registered against the suspects and investigations are continuing.

Three robbers held

The Mehmoodabad police arrested two members of an inter-provincial gang of robbers in an injured condition. The police reached the scene after being informed by some locals about the presence of robbers in a bungalow.

On seeing the cops, the robbers opened fire and tried to flee. In retaliation, the police fired back and arrested Noman, Riasat Ali and Imran in an injured condition. The police said the suspects were involved in a number of burglary cases. They were shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment. Cases had been registered against the suspects, the police said.
