Rangers arrest four suspected criminals

The paramilitary force on Saturday arrested four suspects during targeted raids in different parts of the metropolis.

According to a spokesman for the Sindh Rangers, Hammad Haroon, Amir and Muhammad Naseem were arrested in Brigade, Saeedabad and North Karachi industrial area for their involvement in a number of street crime cases and robberies.

During a raid in Defence, Muhammad Awais Mughal was apprehended for being involved in robberies and drug peddling. The soldiers claimed to have seized drugs and weapons and recovered looted valuable from the suspects. They were later handed over to police for further legal action.

A day earlier, two workers of the Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen (MWM) were detained during a raid.

According to a spokesperson for the MWM, law enforcers raided the party’s provincial office in Soldier Bazaar and took Irfan and Nazeer to an undisclosed location. The action against them was taken although the party was not holding any protest or rally, he added.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Interior, the authorities concerned were asked to take precautionary measures in view of a scheduled visit of a high-profile delegation to Pakistan.
