The Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) on Thursday requested Nabeel Gabol, known as Pakistan People’s Party’s (PPP) power source in Lyari until a fallout with the leaderhip, to join the party.
PML-Q provincial president Haleem Adil Sheikh on behalf of party chief, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, extended the invitation at Gabol’s residence.
Terming Gabol’s efforts for the country’s politics positive, Sheikh said, “He never compromised on principles, which is why Cahudhary Shujaat wants him to join the PML-Q.”
Withholding his decision, Gabol instead spoke of playing a role in uniting the All Pakistan Muslim League (APML), Pakistan Muslim League – Functional (PML-F) and PML-Q for which he had already met with APML chief General (Retd) Pervez Musharraf and planned to schedule a meeting with PML-F chief Pir Pagara.
The prevailing law and order situation of the city as well as the overall political situation of the country was also brought under discussion. Both the leaders agreed to meet again in order to formalise a future line of action.
Gabol, after resigning from the PPP just before the May 2013 general elections, had joined the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and became a member of the national assembly from the party’s main constituency, NA-246. He, however, left the MQM two years after the election and also resigned as a member of the assembly.
