They asked the people to report any suspicious activities by dialling the toll free helpline 09251125, which would work round-the-clock. Enforcing ‘Shariah’ in country top priority: JUI-F leader

KHAR: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) provincial chief Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan on Sunday said that his party would continue efforts for enforcement of Shariah in the country. Speaking at the concluding session of a two-day training convention here at a seminary in Khar, the headquarters of Bajaur Agency, he said the JUI-F was the only party which had a large number of ideological activists and workers. “The JUI-F’s top priority is to implement the Shariah in the country,” he said, adding it would continue peaceful struggle for enforcing then Islamic laws in the country. JUI-F’s provincial general secretary Maulana Shujaul Mulk, former senator Maulana Abdur Rasheed, Maulana Ataul Haq Darvesh, Maulana Muhammad Laiq, Maulana Zakirullah, Maulana Muhammad Sadiq and Qari Fazle Subhan also spoke on the occasion.
Arms seized, one held in Mansehra

MANSEHRA: The police on Sunday claimed to have arrested a smuggler and seized a cache of arms and ammunition.“We have recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from the houses of two brothers and arrested one of them,” said Zulfiqar Khan Jadoon, the deputy superintendent of police, while addressing a press conference at his office. Jadoon, who was flanked by head of the City Police Station, said that the raid was carried out on a tip off that arms and ammunition were dumped at a house in the Dub locality of the city. He said Mohammad Gulfam was arrested during action while his brother Mohammad Sultan fled. The DSP said Kalashnikovs, repeater guns, 8-MM rifles, 12-bore pistols and heavy ammunition were also seized. He said both brothers were involved in the smuggling of arms and ammunition to outlaws. “We have also initiated an investigation to ascertain who is backing the arms smugglers to bust the entire network,” said Jadoon. He added that investigation would pave the way for more such raids and seizure of the contraband items.
Cop, PO killed in Karak encounter

KARAK: A constable and a proclaimed offender (PO) were killed while three policemen, including a station house officer, sustained injuries in an encounter in the limits of Latamber Police Station on Sunday, sources said. Acting on a tip-off, the cops from the Latamber Police Station raided the hideout of a proclaimed offender in Alam Sheri area in Takht-e-Nusrati Tehsil. They said the accused and his accomplices opened fire on the cops when they were asked to surrender. Constable Sher Ayaz was killed on the spot while three other police personnel identified as Rescue 15 district in-charge Zahid Asif, SHO Azhar Ali and Constable Abdullah sustained injuries in the firing. The police retaliated, killing the ringleader of the group Hussain, a resident of Kamali Banda. He was wanted by the police in various cases. The police recovered one Kalashnikov and four hand-grenades after the clash. The injured policemen were taken to the District Headquarters Hospital in Karak.
Two shot dead in Bannu

BANNU: Two persons were killed and another sustained injuries when two groups exchanged fire over a property dispute in the limits of Cantonment Police Station on Sunday, official sources said. They said there had been a property dispute between two groups headed by Sheharyar Khan and Ijaz in Sokri Karim Khan since long. The two groups exchanged harsh words and resorted to firing in which Sheharyar and his brother Haider Ali were killed. Their rival Muhammad Kashif, son of Ijaz, sustained injuries. The injured was rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu where his condition was stated to be stable. The police registered separate cases and started an investigation.
