ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan has announced his support for the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor and termed it an historic opportunity for the country.
Talking to media persons outside the Parliament House on Tuesday after the address of Chinese President Xi Jinping to the joint sitting of the Parliament, he said that the economic corridor would change the fate of the people of the region as it would connect the far-flung areas of Pakistan not only with the western Chinese areas but it would also provide access to the Central Asian States. He said the projects to be built under the economic
corridor should be saved from wrongdoings. To a question, Imran Khan said that under construction projects and roads should benefit Balochistan on first priority and its people since it is starting from that province. He said no road should be constructed by ignoring Blaochistan. He said it was heard that the roads are being linked with Multan and Lahore which are already well connected areas. He said the economic corridor must pass through the remote and backward areas of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The PTI chief welcomed the address of the Chinese president and said that his party wholeheartedly greets the Chinese leader. Imran appreciated the views expressed by the Chinese president.
