The second ‘I am Karachi’ festival will be held in May at the Arts Council in which more than 1,500 youth will participate.
This was announced by Ahmed Ali Shah the Arts Council secretary at a press conference on Tuesday.
This year, he said, the festival comprises seven different competitions.
He pointed out that as many as 17,850 young people had registered themselves in the last festival. So far this year, around 2,500 youth had registered in theatre and more than 2,000 in music.
Shah said as many as 360 societies had been connected through these activities. He said these vibrant activities nullified the impression that terrorists and fundamentalist forces ruled the roost in the city.
Member of consortium ‘I am Karachi’, Ghazi Salahuddin, said its mission was to inculcate hope, pride and ownership in the citizens of Karachi to collectively strive for a peace. He said the campaign was an initiative to enhance public awareness and advocacy, reclaim public spaces and bring civil society together.
