The UN commission has accepted Pakistan’s claim of 50,000 sq kms of continental shelf after about 10 years efforts of the Pakistan Navy and our scientists. It is a significant addition to the existing 240,000 sq kms of the EEZ under Pakistan’s jurisdiction. Pakistan now enjoys exclusive rights over the seabed and subsoil resources of this additional area.
Surprisingly, our media did not give much coverage to this great news in comparison to the World Cup – an event that makes no difference to our prosperity. It rather wastes our time. Will some expert explain why we ought to celebrate the addition of 50,000 sq kms continental shelf?
