ISLAMABAD: Supermodel Ayyan Ali arrested in a money laundering case is likely to be shifted to the Central Jail Karachi.
The Sindh government sent a written request to the federal government on Tuesday, seeking to move Ayyan to the Karachi Central Jail from the Adiala Jail. The Sindh government has adopted the stance that Ayyan Ali should be handed over to Karachi Police for investigation as during interrogation she had named over 20 prominent personalities of Karachi of being involved in money laundering business.
Recently arrested by Customs officials for attempting to smuggle $500,000 to Dubai, the model-cum-singer was sent on a 14-day judicial remand to the Adiala Jail although a special customs court admitted a plea seeking Ayyan’s bail.
After communicating with the federal government, preparations are being made in the women’s barracks of the Karachi Central Jail for the supermodel’s arrival. It is expected that Ayyan will arrive in Karachi in the coming few days. The supermodel is said to be given the ‘VVIP’ treatment inside the Adiala Jail. A senior warden of Adiala prison facility said Ayyan was detained at the female barrack No1 VIP room and was no ordinary prisoner. “She is a supermodel and enjoys super facilities. Two female prisoners have been appointed to serve her,” he said jokingly. Ayyan has been provided a well-furnished room, complete with a TV set and refrigerator.
Prisoners are not allowed mobile phones; neither do they work inside the prison due to jammers. Ayyan, however, has been given a ‘V-set’, the only kind of phone that works inside the prison. The administration of central jail Rawalpindi was friendly with Ayyan as they offered her to provide exercise machines in jail on her request.
Sources in jail administration told Online that administration agreed to provide exercise machines to Ayyan and asked her to pay Rs0.3 million for the purchase of the machines.
