NOWSHERA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Saturday said that secular and liberal forces were conspiring against Islam.

Speaking at a joining and Ghalaba-e-Islam conference here, the Maulana said that the politics, defence and economy were under pressure from international financial institutions and other global players.

“We would not be given due importance at the international level unless we pulled our parliament, economy, defence out of external pressure and stop the international players from interfering in the country’s affairs,” he added.

He said the people would have to understand that it was not a fight between personalities or individuals but it was fight between two ideologies.

Maulana Fazl said that the JUI-F was fighting against the people displeased with Islam. He said that the people displeased with Islam were calling the shots in the country and controlling the country’s politics for the last 70 years.

“We have to liberate the country from the grip of these forces and their agents. The people cannot taste the real independence until these people remain imposed on the country,” he said.

The Maulana said the goal that was set for independence could not be achieved despite passage of 70 years. He said that religious scholars and religious minded people were considered and called extremists and backward.

“These people wanted a Western type of society. This is not new. Anti-Islam people conspired against the religion in every era,” he added.

He said that the religio-politico parties were taunted if they were doing politics for Islam then why they did not get united. “Is it just the responsibility of religious parties to promote and protect Islam,” he asked.

The JUI-F chief said religio-politico parties were blocking anti-Islam legislation in the parliament and would not allow anyone to remove pro-religion law from the Constitution.

The Maulana said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had failed to deliver, adding the party did not know how to run the government.

Without naming anyone, he said that once a PTI leader had said that they cannot run the government. “He said that thanks God we did not win the election and form the government in the Centre because we lacked the experience how to run the government. He had rightly said. The PTI ruined Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, “the Maulana said.

He alleged that the PTI considered vulgarity their right, adding the logo pasted on gates of state-run schools was the symbol of homosexuals in Europe.

He alleged that the provincial government excluded lessons about religious people and personalities from schools syllabus.

“These people wanted to make changes in the course taught in seminaries. What kind of correction they would introduce in books taught in religious schools,” he mocked.

He said the JUI-F was first to the take up the issue of missing persons and religious seminaries and bombing mosques but complained that they were called friends of militants for this. “Now the nationalists people are calling it destruction and unjust but you were supporting these actions at the first place,” he added.

About the Fata merger, he rejected the impression that JUI-F was against the merger decision. “Let the tribespeople decide their future. Do not impose decision on them from Islamabad in this regard,” he added.
