85 trash throwers caught in Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI: As many as 85 people were caught throwing trash outside their vehicles in the first three months of 2018 in capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Abu Dhabi.

According to the statement issued by the authorities of police, drivers are responsible to remind passengers that they have a responsibility to protect the environment and dispose of litter in a correct and civilised manner.

Violators must pay a fine of Dh1,000 and receive six points on their annual registration of vehicle.

Abu Dhabi Police will campaign against uncivilised behaviour and indifference towards the country’s environmental and cultural appearance, stated by Brigadier Ahmed Al Shehhi, the deputy director of Traffic and Patrols Department in the central operations section.

He also stressed the importance of setting a positive example for young children to follow.
