Two ‘hitmen’ involved in killing ANP workers arrested

Three men allegedly involved in target killings of Awami National Party (ANP) workers and street crimes were arrested by Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) during a raid in Surjani Town on Thursday.

The suspects admitted to the murder of ANP worker Shahrukh Khan in 2009 and to the killing of three brothers, Abdul Wahab, Abdul Hanan and Abdul Hadi, sons of Abdullah Jan, for their association with the ANP in 2010.

A statement issued from SIU senior superintendent of police Peer Fareed Jan Sarhandi’s office said that two of the suspects, Salahuddin alias Bhora and Muhammad Asif alias Sherry, had also disclosed their involvement in various target killings in the Gulistan-e-Jauhar area.

SSP Sarhandi further said that Salahuddin and Asif had earlier been arrested twice by Ferozeabad police in 2012 and 2013 for their alleged involvement in cases of murders. Police had registered an FIR under sections 302 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and an FIR under sections 302, 324, 109 and 34 against them.

In 2015, Jauharabad police had arrested the two for an assault or use of criminal force to prevent a public servant from discharging his duty and registered a case under sections 353, 324 and 34 of the PPC.

In a recent mugging incident, SSP Sarhandi said, the suspects had deprived

a citizen of Rs250,000 in DHA Phase-II when he was leaving a private bank branch after withdrawing the cash.
